Football Notes
Here's how loaded Real Madrid are: Michael Owen has to settle for coming in as a sub. That's a bit too much talent. Spread it around, boys, huh?
Fox Sports World is showing early rounds of the FA Cup again this year. Kudos to them for that.
Peter Nowak is the only man in MLS history to lift the cup as both player and manager.
Several regulars on BigSoccer made the front page of the Washington Post this morning, above the fold. It was a photo of Some DC United players holding the Rothenberg Trophy up to the fans in the stands so they could get a touch of it. Classy.
Eddie Johnson is getting a tryout with Manchester United. This time last year it was unclear if he'd ever even get another cap for the United States.
Jose Burciaga's goal for Kansas City in the Cup final was his first of the year. Timing is everything in this life, isn't it?
The guys on ESPNews kept referring to Alecko Eskandarian as Eskardarian, no doubt thinking of the old joke about the snail who drove a car.
If I'm not mistaken, Alecko's Dad won an NASL championship during his time with the Cosmos. Pretty impressive, I'd say.
Dema Kovalenko became the first player ever sent off in an MLS Cup final. This fills me with the unholy joy of schadenfreude.
